Flying planes has been a dream of mine since I was a very young boy.
Over the past 4 years I have been flying rc (remote control) planes.
It has been fun so far and as well as heart breaking at times, but it has also taught me to construct and build planes.
I am a “silver rated pilot”. This means that I have an intermediate level of skill that I can use. I know that I am privileged to have this hobby, because very few of my generation is experienced and influenced as I am by my hobby.
This hobby is very expensive. People think that it costs too much. To be very realistic it does cost a lot of money, but that one plane that was bought can last more than 10 years if kept and maintained.
Most people who share my hobby will actually say, that “You build more than you fly”. This is completely true, because the planes need maintenance and fixing every few hours of flight.
There are various models and types of planes to fly, I mostly like Warbirds and Scale planes. There are nice things to have at an airshow and I also enjoy planes that go really fast and planes that are more maneuverable than the average plane.
I mostly enjoy “3D flying”. This means that the planes have got larger control surfaces and allow the plane to be extremely maneuverable. The upside to this is that I can do more maneuvers with the plane in the air at slower speeds than regular planes.
I hope this will give people, better insight into my hobby and explain what the hobby actually is about.
